De Wet
Theart
Non-Principal Property Practitioner
West Coast
When it comes to property, few people on the West Coast can match the depth of experience that De Wet Theart brings to the table.
A third-generation construction family background gave De Wet an early and intimate understanding of what property truly means to people, the sacrifices made, the dreams invested, and the risks involved. That awareness has shaped every step of a remarkable career spanning four decades.
It began in the mid-1980s as a valuer-in-training at the City of Cape Town Valuation Department, studying towards his ND in Property Valuations. Headhunted by Syfrets Trust, he went on to assess mortgage book risk and value an extraordinary range of fixed assets, from residential homes and farms to shopping centres, hotels, industrial estates, and even historic landmarks such as St George's Cathedral and UCT buildings.
His passion for people then drew him into commercial broking with JHI and the Marriott Group, where he negotiated leases for major insurance companies with vast property portfolios across South Africa. In the late 1990s he launched his own real estate company, specialising in residential sales and bond arrangements, with a particular love for helping first-time buyers find their footing.
Now proudly part of Harcourts West Coast & Swartland in Langebaan, De Wet offers clients something truly rare: deep market knowledge, transaction efficiency, and an unwavering commitment to ensuring that every price paid reflects fair value received.
