Leonard Smallbones has never been afraid to chart his own course, and his remarkable career journey is proof of exactly that.
It began in 1983 in the structured world of accounting and auditing, where Leonard spent 15 years as a public auditor with the Office of the Auditor General, also serving as a registered Accounting Officer for Close Corporations. That financial discipline and sharp eye for detail has never left him, and it underpins everything he does in property today.
In 1998 he took the bold step into the private sector, co-founding Valuables.co.za, an innovative online platform marketing vintage and exotic cars, light aircraft, and other high-value items. When the platform attracted a property listing in the early 2000s, Leonard recognised the opportunity, registered with the Estate Agency Affairs Board, and never looked back. He went on to build and run Valuables Properties and Valuables Rentals Pty Ltd as sole owner for over two decades.
In 2025, with a clear vision for the next chapter, Leonard made the strategic decision to bring his extensive experience and entrepreneurial spirit to Harcourts West Coast & Swartland in Langebaan. Already making his mark, he was recognised with a Certificate of Excellence – Bronze for Commission Generated for October to December 2025, a fitting start to an exciting new chapter.
