The Waterberg region is made up of the Modimolle; Bela-Bela and Vaalwater areas. Modimolle, originally named Nylstroom, is situated in the Limpopo Province in South Africa. A hill resembling a pyramid alongside a river, led settlers to think that they had arrived in Egypt. Believing that the river was the Nile River and stroom, meaning stream in Afrikaans, this area earned the name Nylstroom.
