There's no reason you can't enjoy the fruits of the festive season without letting yourself go too far. Keep these tips in mind to make sure you don't fall off the wagon.
Ditch the diet.
It is probably a good decision not to diet during the season of festive parties and delicious treats. Focus more on not overdoing your calories and simply make a plan to get back on track after the holidays.
Be realistic. Too strict and you'll end up binging during the season of temptation. Don't let yourself go but don't deprive yourself either.
Keep moving!
Keep your daily activity levels up by walking and moving more. We're fortunate enough to enjoy pleasant weather all throughout our holiday season, so take advantage of it!
This can help with stress and boredom, which are big triggers for overeating.
Keeping up with your exercise will benefit you both physically and mentally, knowing you're not letting things go a bit too far. Aim for at least 2-3 workouts a week.
By the way, traversing the shops this Christmas counts as exercise! Remember to keep that step counter going!
Plan your social events ahead of time.
Eating out or attending a party once or twice a week can be easily managed and won't ruin all your progress. But going out every single day / night most likely will, so you do need to employ some discipline. Pick and choose the most important events to attend and if you happen to indulge, just balance it out by watching your calories over the days that follow.
Plan your goals for next year and reflect on this year.
There's no reason you can't already put a plan in place to get back into that regime or start a new one in the new year. This will make you feel better about having fun and not feeling like you have to deprive yourself and miss out on all the festivities and tasty treats on offer. And there will be!
